Created by artist Niziah Osheen Burnett, Beautiful Chaos is a dress designed with painted imagery and lit by copper wired bulbs that depict the different facets of the protests on Lake St. and their aftermath.

“I really hope my artwork sends the message or just makes people think about all the stuff that has happened in Minneapolis and how it affected people.”

Wrapped around the dress are images of protesters and police cars, but also burning buildings and text expressing the anger people felt. The idea behind Niziah’s artwork is to show the anger and distress alongside the need for change.

About the Artist

“My name is niziah. I’m 18 years old. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I love to sew and draw. I sew a lot of my own dresses and it makes me really happy. I also draw sometimes and create amazing works of art. I hope to one day have my own online business where I sell graphic tees and maybe even accessories or pants. I have already begun making some graphic tees and I hope my business will take off someday.”
