BareBones 2020 · OFFERINGS: Artists Respond to the Mourning, Grieving and Fires on Lake Street
Chalkboards of Remembrance
Oct 25 - Nov 2
Starts at 31st St. & Minnehaha Av.
Mina Leierwood committed to making 13 chalkboards, mounted on telephone poles, with stanzas from the Jewish Passover poem “We Remember Them” by Rabbi Sylvan Kamens and Rabbi Jack Riemer. The poem is used as a meditation and a prompt to ask viewers (our community) to write down the names of the Beloved Dead. Mina added another board with the complete poem, and 2 Ancestor Acknowledgement boards, to give thanks to the Indigenous people, living and deceased, who share this land with our Southside Minneapolis community. Migwech.
Think of this project as a scavenger hunt to Honor of the Dead. People and Places.
