Description

BareBones Productions is seeking to hire one Stage Manager for the 2023 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with Barebones Directors/Facilitators, Barebones staff, community volunteers, and the production team through the months of August, September and October 2023. The Stage Manager will work with these communities to create 4 public performance/rituals related to grief, death, ancestors, loss and remembering to be performed October 27, 28, 29 and 31. Rain date will be October 30th if any performance is canceled due to weather. Performances will be located on the Midtown Greenway between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

Qualifications or Requirements

  • Experience and excellent skills in the area of theater management
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
  • Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and strong time management skills
  • High standard of organizational and communication skills
  • Strong technology skills, including knowledge and experience creating, managing and sharing Google Docs and using google drive for community intercommunication
  • Ability to work under pressure, and a sharp eye for detail
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to think on one’s feet
  • Negotiation skills, confidence and decision-making abilities

Responsibilities Include

  • Create and set up rehearsal schedules
  • Collaborate with site and production managers, performance/build leaders and interns
  • Collaborate and direct the coordinators of make-up, audience/front of house, stilts, fire, lighting, sound and altar
  • Liaise with Production Manager regarding budgets
  • Attend community kickoff/build start 9/12/23 6:30-9:30
  • Work/attend all required build events, rehearsals, and meetings as scheduled by directors/facilitators (dates TBD)
  • Work/attend all performances (October 27, 28, 29, 31 and rain date October 30)
  • Participate in 4 educational workshops provided to the community by Barebones
  • Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) in a timely manner
    Plan and supervise the ‘get in’ and ‘get out’ (When the puppets, set, lighting and sound go into and out of the performance space for rehearsals and performances)
  • Develop and edit storyboard and list of scenes in both digital version, and large, visual formats for all cast and crew to refer to. These will evolve over time and need multiple revisions
  • Collaborate with artists and build leaders about the use, repair and storage of puppets, costumes and props during builds, rehearsals and performances
  • Manage all cues for performers and tech crews during rehearsals and performances
  • Manage the backstage and onstage area during performances
  • Set and communicate calls for all performers and tech crews in collaboration with directors
  • Prioritize physical and emotional safety of every participant, including Covid precautions
  • Participate in final wrap-up survey
  • As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have their own access to materials and technologies necessary for the job.
