BareBones Productions is seeking to hire one Performance Photographer for the 2023 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with Barebones Directors/Facilitators, Barebones staff, community volunteers, and the production team in October 2023. The Performance Photographer is responsible for collaborating and communicating with the Co-Directors and Artistic staff to create photographic documentation of rehearsals, builds and performances/rituals related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering to be performed October 27, 28, 29 and 31. Rain date will be October 30th if any performance is canceled due to weather. Performances will be located on the Midtown Greenway between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

Qualifications or Requirements

  • Experience and excellent skills in the area of theatrical photography and video, including night-time photography experience without using flashes, or flashing at a minimum
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
  • Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and strong time management skills
  • High standard of organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, and able to provide images quickly
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to think on one’s feet

Responsibilities Include

  • Document performances with photographs that give a sense of the mood, energy and character of the show
  • Take photographs at all or most performances in order to segment visibility during performances
  • Communicate/collaborate with Co-Directors as to which parts of performances will be photographed on which nights
  • Ensure that the widest variety of performers/puppets possible are represented in photographs
  • Provide a predetermined amount of sweetened photo selects (decided upon by Communications Director and Production Manager)
  • Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) in a timely manner
  • Prioritize physical and emotional safety of every participant, including Covid precautions
  • Participate in final wrap-up survey
  • As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have their own access to materials and technologies necessary for the job
