Description

BareBones Productions is seeking to hire one Merch Sales Coordinator for the 2023 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with Barebones Barebones staff, community volunteers, and the production team in October 2023. The Merch Sales Coordinator is responsible for set up, take down, and sale of merch on 4 performance nights, and developing processes to coordinate merch sales volunteers. The 4 public performance/rituals related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering will be performed October 27, 28, 29 and 31. Rain date will be October 30th if any performance is canceled due to weather. Performances will be on the Midtown Greenway between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

Qualifications or Requirements

  • Experience and skills in the area of retail and customer service
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
  • Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and time management skills
  • High standard of organizational and communication skills
  • Technology skills, including knowledge and experience using digital retail payment systems
  • Ability to work under pressure, and a sharp eye for detail
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to think on one’s feet
  • Confidence and decision-making abilities
  • Access to SUV or van to use for merch transport and storage on the 4 performance nights

Responsibilities Include

  • Set up Square on personal phone and become familiar with operating it prior to the first night of performance
  • Arrive at the performance site nightly at 4:30 or earlier for all Extravaganza performances
  • Set up the merchandise booth to be sales ready by 6:00pm, including t-shirts, tent, tables, chairs, table cloths, signs, and lights
  • Assist Volunteer Coordinator with recruitment of merch sales volunteers
  • Communicate with recruited volunteers re: shift times and responsibilities
  • Train volunteers in all sales processes
  • For each performance night, sell t-shirts using cash and Square digital sales app from 6:00p until one hour after the performance ends (the performance starts at 7:00p and is roughly one hour long, but could run longer one or more nights)
  • Keep a tally of the number of t-shirts sold nightly
  • The Barebones board will set up two Square readers on the phones of those staffing the merchandise booth, connecting to the Barebones account via Square. The board will provide a cash box. The board is also responsible for collecting cash sales nightly.
  • At close on all performance nights, all merchandise booth items must be broken down and stored in an SUV or van to be procured by Merch Coordinator
  • Prioritize physical and emotional safety of every participant, including COVID-19 precautions
  • Participate in a final wrap-up survey
  • As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have their own access to materials and technologies necessary for the job.
