Description
BareBones Productions is seeking to hire a Behind the Scenes Photographer for the 2024 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with BareBones Co-Directors, artistic/production staff, and community members from end of August through September and October and into the beginning of November 2024. The Behind the Scenes Photographer will work with these communities to document the creation of a public performance/ritual related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering, to be performed over 4 nights. Performances will be located in Powderhorn Park at 3400 15th Avenue South.
Qualifications or Requirements
- Experience and excellent skills in the area of theatrical photography, including night-time photography experience without using flashes, or flashing at a minimum
- Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
- Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- High standard of organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure, and able to provide images quickly
- Problem-solving skills, ability to think on one’s feet
Must Work/Attend
- BareBones Buildup 2024 (paid orientation). Collaborate with the 2024 Team to create protocols to address interpersonal dynamics, safety, workload fairness, communication, and organization (participate as a participating staff member for the first half as well as providing photographs)

Responsibilities Include
- Attend and provide photographs of at least one Artistic staff Storyboarding session, one Community
- Storyboarding session, and Build Kick-Off
- Attend and provide photographs of Build events, rehearsals, and meetings
- Attend and provide photographs of at least one of four educational workshops provided to the community by BareBones Board
- Document rehearsals, builds, meetings, and storyboarding sessions with photographs and video clips that give a sense of the mood, energy, and character of preparation for the show
- Provide sweetened photo/video selects in a turnaround time that allows them to be used for social media and/or press promotions (decided upon by the Communications Director.)
- Communicate/collaborate with Co-Directors around all photography and video sessions
- Ensure that the widest variety of volunteers possible are represented in photographs
- Ensure that all staff positions involved in builds and rehearsals are represented in photographs (i.e. photos of directors directing, producer doing production tasks, etc.)
- Ensure that respectful permission is acquired for all photographic sessions
- Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of every participant
- Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) promptly
- Participate in a final wrap-up survey after November 4, 2024
- As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have access to materials and technologies necessary for the job

Compensation
- $750.00
- BareBones Buildup attendance $50

- Access to request small funds for basic needs if needed to fully participate in BareBones duties
The BareBones Board/Hiring Committee wishes that we could pay more. We recognize compensation is more like symbolic appreciation rather than a livable wage. This show would not be possible without many people's in-kind donations (love hours).
