Description

BareBones Productions is seeking to hire one Behind the Scenes Photographer for the 2023 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with Barebones Directors/Facilitators, Barebones staff, community volunteers, and the production team through the months of September and October 2023. The Behind the Scenes Photographer is responsible for collaborating and communicating with the Co-Directors and Artistic staff to create photographic documentation of rehearsals and builds related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering October 27, 28, 29 and 31. Rain date will be October 30th if any performance is canceled due to weather. Performances will be located on the Midtown Greenway between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

Qualifications or Requirements

  • Experience and excellent skills in the area of theatrical photography, including night-time photography experience without using flashes, or flashing at a minimum
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
  • Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and strong time management skills
  • High standard of organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, and able to provide images quickly
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to think on one’s feet

Responsibilities Include

  • Document some rehearsals with photographs that give a sense of the mood, energy and character of preparation for the show
  • Document some builds with photographs that capture the artistic process of building puppets
  • Provide sweetened photo selects of rehearsals and builds in a turn around time that allows them to be used for social media and/or press promotions (decided upon by the Communications Director
  • Communicate/collaborate with Co-Directors around all photography and video sessions
  • Ensure that the widest variety of staff/volunteers possible are represented in photographs
  • Ensure that respectful permission is acquired for all photographic sessions
  • Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) in a timely manner
  • Prioritize physical and emotional safety of every participant, including Covid precautions
  • Participate in final wrap-up survey
  • As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have their own access to materials and technologies necessary for the job.
