Andréa “Dre” Wakely

Sunflower Medicine

Play Video

Andréa “Dre” Wakely’s Sunflower Medicine sculpture offers a physical space to acknowledge and celebrate the sunflower’s message and receive its healing medicine.

“I was curious about the image of the sunflower as it appears in social justice and the George Floyd murals throughout the Twin Cities. To better understand its symbolism, I studied the sunflower as an herbal remedy. What I discovered is that the sunflower has a spiritual and interpersonal message to share with us all. Its presence is not a coincidence.”
