For Mollie Rae Miller’s offering to BareBones 2020 entitled “Cotton Thoughts”, the aritst has created many long narrow tapestries to hang from a tree, cord or building, printed or stenciled with poems, thoughts, and questions that she wrote and dated in a daily journal during and after the protests surrounding the killing of George Floyd by the police. Miller describes, “the tapestries will be caught in the movement and conditions of the outdoor elements to see how they evolve or deteriorate, physically. As our impeding and repeating inner thoughts do within our changing mental states of fear, love, worry, fight vs. flight and calm.”
