Description
BareBones Productions is seeking to hire one Build Site Volunteer Anchor for the 2024 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with BareBones Co-Directors, Artistic and Production staff, and community members from end of August, through September and October, and into the beginning of November 2024. The Volunteer Anchor will work with these communities to create a public performance/ritual related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering, to be performed over 4 nights. Performances will be located in Powderhorn Park at 3400 15th Avenue South.
Qualifications or Requirements
- Experience teaching, guiding, supporting, and managing a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, and spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
- Adaptability and flexibility
Must Work/Attend
- All community builds (T/Th evenings and Saturday afternoons), arriving 30 minutes early and ensuring with the artistic team that the site is clean and secure at the end of each build. If needed, the Volunteer Recruiter can substitute for up to two community builds
- BareBones Buildup 2024 (paid orientation). Collaborate with the 2024 Team to create protocols to address interpersonal dynamics, safety, workload fairness, communication, & organization
- Artistic staff Storyboarding, Community Storyboarding, Build Site move, and Build Kick-Off
- Build events, rehearsals, and additional meetings as scheduled by the Co-Directors, Artistic Team, and Production Team, per protocols developed at BareBones Buildup 2024
- Four educational workshops provided to the community by BareBones Board
- Encouraged to participate in rehearsals and performances to be held on October 31, November 1, 2, and 3, 2024. Rain date will be November 4, if a performance is canceled due to weather

Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming and inviting environment for a wide range of community members
- Maintain familiarity with the Extravaganza performance narrative and puppet projects
- Maintain strong communication with Volunteer Recruiter, Co-Directors, Teaching Artists/Interns, Large Puppet Artists, and Stage Manager in regards to build-site volunteer needs
- Connect volunteers to puppet-building projects appropriate to their interests, skills, & other needs
- Collect contact information from all volunteers via online or paper forms
- Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of participants
- Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) promptly
- Participate in a variety of clean-up activities and final wrap-up survey after November 4, 2024
- As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates must have access to materials and technologies necessary for the job

Compensation
- $500-1000 based on experience
- BareBones Buildup attendance $100
- Snacks or Meals at most meetings, builds, rehearsals
- Access to request small funds for basic needs if needed to fully participate in BareBones duties
The BareBones Board/Hiring Committee wishes that we could pay more. We recognize compensation is more like symbolic appreciation rather than a livable wage. This show is only possible with many people's in-kind donations (love hours).
