Description
BareBones Productions is seeking to hire a Merch Sales Coordinator for the 2024 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with the BareBones production and screen printing teams during the months of August, September, October, and November 2024. The Merch coordinator will support the BareBones community before and during a public performance/ritual related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering, to be performed over 4 nights. Performances will be located in Powderhorn Park at 3400 15th Avenue South.
Qualifications or Requirements
- Experience and skills in the area of retail and customer service
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Technology skills, including knowledge and experience using digital retail payment systems
- Adaptability, flexibility, ability to work under pressure
- Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
- Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias.
Must Work/Attend
- BareBones Buildup 2024 (paid orientation). Collaborate with the 2024 Team to create protocols to address interpersonal dynamics, safety, workload fairness, communication, and organization
- Production meetings when requested, meetings as needed with the screen printing team
- Product packing and organizational sessions as needed
- Four performances, to be held on October 31, November 1, 2, and 3, 2024. The rain date will be November 4, if a performance is canceled due to the weather
- Four educational workshops provided to the community by BareBones Board
Responsibilities Include
- Meet with the screen-printing team to develop a plan for packing, displaying, and selling hand-printed T-shirts. Shirts may be re-used and need to be displayed individually on hangers, or new, and need to be displayed folded (or possibly some of each)
- Meet with the production team to develop placement of merch sales tent and timing of sales
- Collaborate with Volunteer Recruiter to assist with recruitment of Merch sales volunteers
- Set up schedule for Merch volunteers and train/provide direction to volunteers
- Set up the Square app on a personal phone and become familiar with operating it
- Be responsible for transporting or unloading all merch sales materials including: tent, tables, hangers, shirts, decorations, needed technology
- Arrive at the site nightly at 4:30, set up the merchandise tent to be sales-ready by 6:00 pm,
- Sell t-shirts using cash and the Square app from 6:00p until one hour after the performance ends
- Keep accurate records of shirts sold, cash and square sales
- The board will provide a cash box and will collect cash sales tally and cash nightly.
- After sales end each night, load and transport all merch sales materials with the assistance of Merch Sales volunteers
- Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of every participant
- Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) promptly
- Participate in a variety of clean-up activities and final wrap-up survey after November 4, 2024
- As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have access to materials and technologies necessary for the job

Compensation
- $500.00
- BareBones Buildup attendance $50
- Snacks or Meals at most meetings, builds, rehearsals
- Access to request small funds for basic needs if needed to fully participate in BareBones duties
The BareBones Board/Hiring Committee wishes that we could pay more. We recognize compensation is more like symbolic appreciation rather than a livable wage. This show is only possible with many people's in-kind donations (love hours).
