Call for Graphic Designer

Description

BareBones Productions is seeking to hire a Graphic Designer for the 2024 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with BareBones Co-Directors, Communications Director, and other BareBones staff. The Graphic Designer will create poster designs for a public performance/ritual related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering.

Qualifications or Requirements

  • Experience and excellent skills in the area of graphic design for creative organizations
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
  • Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • High standard of organizational and communication skills

Must Work/Attend

  • BareBones Buildup 2024 (paid orientation). Collaborate with the 2024 Team to create protocols to address interpersonal dynamics, safety, workload fairness, communication, and organization
    Either the kick-off or the final storyboarding meeting to get a sense of the show (see below).

Responsibilities Include

  • Create design options for a 2024 poster that incorporates the title, themes, and elements of the 2024 BareBones Extravaganza
  • Work with the Communications Director and other BareBones staff to create a final design and prepare the design to be printed
  • Deliver design to print shop and deliver the final product to Communications Director and Merch Coordinator
  • Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) promptly
  • Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of every participant, including Covid precautions
  • Participate in final wrap-up survey
  • As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have their own access to materials and technologies necessary for the job.

Compensation

  • $250.00
  • Access to request small funds for basic needs if needed to fully participate in BareBones duties

The BareBones Board/Hiring Committee wishes that we could pay more. We recognize compensation is more like symbolic appreciation rather than a livable wage. This show would not be possible without many people's in-kind donations (love hours).
