Description
BareBones Productions is seeking to hire a Front of House Manager for the 2025 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with BareBones Producer(s), Co-Directors, artistic/production staff, and community members through August, September, October, and November 2025. The Front of House Manager will work with these communities to create a welcoming front of house experience for a public performance/ritual related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering, to be performed over 4 nights. Audience sizes range from 1000-3000 people. Performances will be located in Powderhorn Park at 3400 15th Avenue South.
Qualifications or Requirements
- Experience in the area of front of house event management, theater management, large outdoor event management, or equivalent skills
- Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
- Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias.
- Ability to use Google Drive and create, manage, and share a variety of Google documents for communication purposes
- Ability to work under pressure, a sharp eye for detail, adaptability, and flexibility
- Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias
- Strong communication, negotiation, decision-making, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills
Must Work/Attend
- BareBones Buildup 2025 (Tuesday August 19, 6-9:30). Collaborate with the 2025 Team to create protocols to address interpersonal dynamics, safety, workload fairness, communication, & organization
- Production team meetings that relate to front of house issues
- Other meetings as scheduled and needed with Producer(s), Site Manager and front of house staff
- Four performances, to be held on October 30, 31, November 1, 2, 2025. The rain date will be November 3, if a performance is canceled due to the weather
- Four educational workshops provided to the community by BareBones Board

Responsibilities Include
- Oversee the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for outdoor audiences of 1000-3000 for four performances
- Collaborate with Producer and Site Manager to develop a site map which includes all front of house elements
- Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator, Gate and Usher Coordinators to recruit volunteers
- Coordinate rental, delivery, placement, stocking, and cleaning of all porta-potties during performances (including performer potties)
- Coordinate City of Minneapolis bike rack delivery, placement, and pick up
- Collaborate with Communications Director to create a flyer about performances for nearby neighbors
- Coordinate the delivery of flyers to nearby neighbors in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator and volunteers
- Coordinate all communication with Sisters Camelot (provider of free post-show food) and manage the placement of their vehicle and other needs
- Conduct safety briefings and emergency procedure training for FOH staff
- Oversee setup and breakdown of FOH areas: gate, merch, signage
- Oversee, support, and be the go-to problem solver for ticketing, seating, and crowd flow for performances
- Provide support, guidance and leadership and serve as main point of contact to front of house staff and their volunteers: including Gate Coordinator, Usher Coordinator and Merch Coordinator
- Coordinate and participate in delivery of cash to safe location after the show begins, in collaboration with Gate and Merch Coordinators
- Respond effectively to emergencies or disruptions in collaboration with Site Manager, Producer, and Safety Team
- Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of every participant
- Participate in digital communication (email, text, phone) promptly
- Participate in a variety of clean-up activities and final wrap-up survey after November 4, 2025
- Prepare post-show reports about FOH operations and audience feedback
- As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have access to materials and technologies necessary for the job

Compensation
- $1500.00
- BareBones Buildup attendance $50
- Snacks or Meals at most meetings, builds, rehearsals
- Access to request small funds for basic needs if needed to fully participate in BareBones duties
The BareBones Board/Hiring Committee wishes that we could pay more. We recognize compensation is more like symbolic appreciation rather than a livable wage. This show would not be possible without many people's in-kind donations (love hours).
