Description

BareBones Productions is seeking to hire one Communications Director for the 2023 Halloween Extravaganza who will work individually and collaboratively with Barebones Directors/Facilitators, Barebones staff, community volunteers, and the production team through the months of August, September and October 2023. The Communications Director is responsible for coordinating and managing communications between the Board, Production Team, Artistic and Administration Staff, Volunteers, the BareBones Community, the press and the public during the creation of 4 public performance/rituals related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering to be performed October 27, 28, 29 and 31. Rain date will be October 30th if any performance is canceled due to weather. Performances will be on the Midtown Greenway between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue.

Qualifications or Requirements

  • Experience and excellent skills in the area of arts or non-profit communications
  • Strong understanding and experience with managing social media platforms
  • Familiarity with alternative digital media platforms and website design/management
  • Knowledge and experience creating, managing and sharing Google Docs and Drive for communication purposes
  • Strong organizational skills creating, merging and managing spreadsheets for communication
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of community members, including folks of various ages, races, cultures, genders, family structures, abilities, spiritual beliefs, and who speak a variety of languages
  • Willingness to learn, self-reflect, and grow in the areas of equity, inclusion, and anti-bias.
    Adaptability, flexibility, and strong time management skills

Responsibilities Include

  • Be the conduit of communication between all relevant stakeholders and participants
  • Provide input and advice on how to effectively get Barebones messaging to the public
  • Assist with calls for staff and volunteers
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator, Stage Manager, Production Manager and Directors on internal communications, including : database, Slack, and EZ Text maintenance and usage
  • Manage internal communications apps in col: including Slack and EZ Text accounts
  • Manage social media messaging to Barebones community and to the public
  • Manage BareBones website messaging and public calendar
  • Produce and release press releases
  • Work with press and reporters on BareBones messaging and marketing
  • Manage communication spreadsheets
  • Respond to questions and comments from the public
  • Relay information between all sources and recipients expediently
  • Manage COVID-19 related messaging
  • Follow through with other communications tasks as determined by the board and production team
    Prioritize physical and emotional safety of every participant, including Covid precautions
  • Participate in final wrap-up survey
  • As this is a temporary, independent contractor position, candidates are required to have their own access to materials and technologies necessary for the job.
